The Shadow Mountain Project

2008

After ten years of Pastoral ministry at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Mo,  we felt God was leading us to a new challenge.  After much prayer, we are leaving the Midwest to continue a church planting project in Thousand Palms, CA (near Palm Springs).

We believe God is calling us to invest in a church in Thousand Palms, CA that has been in existence for 2 years.  We believe that as this church grows, we will be able to plant 4 additional churches over the next 10 years in the entire Coachella Valley.  Currently, only 8% of of this region attends church.  We plan to change that statistic.

Hollywood, California has been one of the most influential regions of the world for decades.  As we look forward in time, we envision another community, 2 hours east of Hollywood, infiltrated by the Shadow Mountain Project, becoming a region of God’s influence and presence to offer hope to the unbeliever, and life to those who are lost.

When we were making the decision to relocate, we asked all of our children to be involved in this step of faith by praying for God’s will to be clear to each of them.  After several days, Alexis, our oldest daughter, said that she felt that God had asked us to be like Abraham, who laid his son on the altar to God.  Like Abraham, God was asking us to lay our lives on the altar for Him.  Alexis, Cameron, and Carter have each expressed that they feel that God is calling them personally to leave family, friends, and their home to go to California.

We are excited to be part of taking the church where the church isn’t.  Already we have seen many miracles of God’s provision in our lives.  It is truly exciting!!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
